Mission

The mission of The Democracy Workshop is to create an inclusive environment on the Internet for the pro-democracy movement in which benefits, through commercial activities, can be derived to the members of the community, the non-profit organizations listed on the community, and management of the community.

The Workshop will provide the basic components that would allow for the creation of such a community. The members are encouraged to use such components in expanding the community in accordance with the Mission Statement and Acceptable Use Policy.

The Workshop attendants will be accessible to the community through a website chat applet, various email addresses, regular mail, phone and fax.

The Workshop attendants will initially provide the community with a listing of 5 non-profit organizations that would benefit from the commercial activities.

Through a petition form and procedure, the  members of the community, after the initial 6 months of operation, may add non-profit organizations to the list. The non-profit organizations need to comply with the USA tax code 501 C 3.

A sample contract is also available to interested non-profits; click here to view the sample contract.

The Workshop attendants will provide an Encrypted Voting Server that the community will use every six months to cast its votes for the non-profit of their choice. After the votes are tallied, the non-profits will receive a percentage of the non-profit fund that is equivalent to the percentage of vote they received.

The Workshop will provide the members with the status of the non-profit fund. The status will be updated at least weekly. The non-profit fund will never be allowed to reach a zero balance. Initially, and after the disbursement of funds due to the vote, the Workshop, through sponsorship or through its own funds will seed the non-profit fund.
