Volunteerism Volunteers in the
The Democracy Workshop should agree with the mission of the Workshop and work to
preserve and promote it. Volunteers from within the community will
administer the Workshop. All are welcome to volunteer, from one hour a
week, to whatever level they can sustain. It is very important that the
time given to volunteer work does not take away from other activities of
importance to the volunteer’s well being. It is also very important that
the persons interested in volunteering be inclusive and respectful of
others’ thoughts and believes, that they maintain their own believes
to themselves and if they express them within the context of the
Workshop, to identify them as their personal opinion, not that of the
Workshop. Initially Volunteer work will be
limited to maintaining the safety of the Chat Forum and answering the
questions of visitors to the web site. Later, it
will extend into the technical service area which should be
minimal. In the
future, the volunteers may think of other avenues for the membership to
express itself and other volunteer programs may develop. In order to volunteer, make sure
you are a member and email the attendant using the suggestion
box. A volunteer should be 18 years of age or older. Should agree to being
interviewed by telephone or in person when possible and be able to
supply references that may be contacted in support of their credentials. Volunteers who are younger than
18 years will be allowed only after supplying a verifiable document
showing parental consent.
